Match Review LS14 | Selangor FC 0–2 JDT FC | Malaysia Super League 2025/26 | Proud of the Team’s Character Despite the Defeat

Selangor FC returned empty-handed after a 0–2 defeat to Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) FC at the MBPJ Stadium, Kelana Jaya yesterday, in Matchday 14 of the 2025/26 Super League season.

Despite the result, Selangor FC delivered a disciplined and highly competitive performance against the defending champions. An early own goal in the 7th minute posed an immediate challenge, but the Red Giants responded with improved defensive organisation and maintained consistent intensity throughout the match. Substitutions in the second half injected fresh energy into the team, helping Selangor sustain pressure and preserve their tactical structure, particularly in limiting JDT’s attacking threats. Although the second goal came late in the game, Selangor’s overall display reflected strong fighting spirit, tactical discipline, and a positive foundation to build momentum moving forward.

Selangor FC Head Coach, Christophe Gamel, expressed his pride in the players’ attitude and performance despite the defeat.

“I told the players that I am very proud of them. Even though we lost concentration in the final moments, the character and fighting spirit shown on the pitch were very encouraging. This performance reflects not only the players’ efforts, but also the collective commitment of the coaching staff and club officials who fully represent the badge we wear,” he said.

“I am very pleased with the progress we have made so far, as many positive changes are clearly visible. One of them is our ability to maintain an attacking style of play, which reflects the Selangor FC mentality. However, we are aware there is still room for improvement, and the team will continue to work hard to improve ahead of the next match,” he added.

Next, Selangor FC will travel to Brunei on 10 January for Matchday 15 of the 2025/26 Super League, where they will face DPMM FC at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Bandar Seri Begawan, with kick-off scheduled at 8:15pm.

Selangor FC management would like to extend sincere appreciation to the 8,101 supporters who attended and provided unwavering support during last night’s match. Your voices were a vital source of motivation for the players on the pitch.
